Drop down the rocky hill directly in front of the entrance to the parking lot. Once onto the faint trail in the creek bed, cross the creek and veer left up the far bank. You will see the trail directly across from you. The trail initially climbs up switchbacks into the upper reaches of the area. Most people ride the loop in a clockwise direction. The trail will bring you back to your initial starting point where you can ride the loop again or cross back through the creek to get to the parking lot.
From Highway 50 in downtown Jefferson City travel west to the MO 179 exit. Continue north (left) on 179 to the West Edgewood intersection (second traffic light). Turn west (right) onto West Edgewood and travel approximately a quarter of a mile. The trailhead for the West Edgewood trail is on the left of the road at the bottom of the hill and is shared by the Jefferson City Greenway system. West Edgewood trail is accessed by crossing the creek at the southeast corner of the parking lot. Access is not available in times of high water.
